DVGE takes pride in their work and has built their business on serving their customers, whether they are an individual homeowner, a large private company or a public entity.
Doug Veerkamp is a fifth generation descendant of a pioneer family in El Dorado County. He and his wife, Lori, started their business in May 1983 after Doug had worked for another major general engineering contractor for eight years. Doug Veerkamp General Engineering, Inc. (DVGE) became incorporated in July 2000.
In the past 28 years, DVGE has grown from a small operation to one of the largest employers in El Dorado County. DVGE is currently considered a mid-size Contractor in terms of annual sales volume and payroll. DVGE specializes in excavation, grading, wet and dry utilities, rockery walls, paving and trucking.
The main office located at 2000 Wetsel-Oviatt Road in El Dorado Hills, California houses a large office staff, numerous estimators, safety coordinator and radio dispatch to all their vehicles. There is also a full equipment maintenance shop with a competent crew. DVGE repairs and maintains all their own equipment, including body and paint work. All equipment is kept in excellent condition and any field breakdown is responded to in a timely manner, including a night crew to get equipment prepared for the work day. Also, at the main office location is a recycle facility for asphalt, concrete, dirt and rocks, a large storage areas for trucks and equipment. DVGE also has an administrative office located at 2585 Cold Springs Road, Placerville, California.
DVGE owns and maintains transfer trucks, bottom dumps, water trucks and equipment transport service. A list of DVGE equipment, numbering well over 350 pieces, is available upon request.
